If you already created traffic movements and events, GoodVision Video Insights allows you to combine these into complex traffic scenarios. You can think up a lot of different combinations to filter the traffic trajectories for the most complex traffic use cases.

For instance, you can define a traffic scenario that will filter out:

"Vehicles of your choice that turned to the left or to the right and also occupied the middle of the intersection for the specified amount of time."

Learn how to create a scenario step by step:

Define your traffic scenario

Click on “+NEW” under the “Scenarios” tab.

Click on the dashed area to select created movements or events from the list to include them in the scenario. It is possible to decide between 3 logical operators inside the scenario when combining the items - THEN, OR, AND. You can change the operator easily by clicking on it and selecting it from the list.

Besides that, it is possible to expand the scenario expression if you need to define a more complex use case. To expand the scenario simply click on "+", or delete the item by clicking the bin icon.

Traffic scenario operators explained

Let's consider the traffic movements and events (the beans in the Scenario) as Filters.

  • THEN - Traffic objects fulfilling the first filter and then fulfilling the second filter, in exact order.

Example THEN: The traffic scenario is composed of two same filters (entry gate) on the roundabout and is filtering all traffic objects that have entered the roundabout, drove all the way around and then exited the roundabout via the same entry gate.

  • AND - Traffic objects fulfilling both filters, no matter the order.

Example AND: The traffic scenario composed of one movement and one stay event is filtering all traffic objects passing through the intersection (in any direction) and occupying the middle of the intersection for more than 15 seconds.

  • OR - Traffic objects fulfilling at least one of the filters.

Example OR: The traffic scenario composed of two movements is filtering all traffic objects that either turned to the left or turned to the right on the intersection.

Getting the traffic data

Finally to analyze the traffic data defined by your movements, events or scenarios, create appropriate widgets on the ‘Analyze data’ page. See our guide on How to create widgets for the traffic volume, travel time, peak periods or various visual maps to get the most of the Video Insights platform.

Learn about all the analytical widgets you can create in Video Insights.
