Region of Interest (ROI), is designed to enhance the ability to focus on specific area within video footage, providing more detail and improving detection accuracy. This feature is available for all users.

Key Benefits of the Point of Interest Feature

  1. Enhanced Focus on Critical Areas: ROI enables users to concentrate on the most important parts of their video feeds, ensuring that no significant details are missed.

  2. Improved Data Accuracy: By narrowing the scope of analysis, the feature helps reduce noise and irrelevant data, leading to more accurate and reliable results.

  3. Time-Saving: By filtering out unnecessary data, the ROI feature accelerates the analysis process, saving valuable time for users.

How it works:

  • after you create a new data source and choose a video file for the processing, in Select video files for processing dialog, click the Define crop area button

  • select the region of interest and click Confirm

NOTE: the region of interest must be defined before the file is processed. It is not possible to apply it after the data is extracted.

If you process 2 files separately in the same data source, for example AM and PM peak, after processing AM peak with the defined region of interest, the PM peak will be automatically processed with the same region of interest. On the other hand, if the AM peak was processed without region of interest, it is not possible to apply it for PM peak.

Example: on the scene below you are only interested in the crossings and interactions between traffic and pedestrians, and the intersection on top of the scene is not a part of the analysis. By defining the region of interest, the system focuses on the specific area and spends its whole capacity on it.
