The Crop Area for Detection feature enhances the ability to focus on specific areas within video footage, providing more detail and improving detection accuracy. This capability is available for all users.

Key Benefits of the Crop Area for Detection Feature

  • Enhanced Focus on Critical Areas: Crop Area for Detection allows users to concentrate on essential parts of their video feeds, ensuring no significant details are overlooked.

  • Improved Data Accuracy: By narrowing the scope of analysis, the feature reduces noise and irrelevant data, resulting in more accurate and reliable insights.

  • Time-Saving: Filtering out unnecessary data accelerates the analysis process, saving valuable time for users.

How to Use the Crop Area for Detection Feature

  1. Select Video Files:
After creating a new data source and choosing a video file for processing, navigate to the Select Video Files for Processing dialog. Click the Define Crop Area button.

2. Define the Crop Area:
Select the desired crop area for detection and click Confirm.

NOTE: The crop area must be defined before processing the file. It cannot be applied retroactively after data extraction.

Additional Considerations

  • If you process two files separately within the same data source (for example, AM and PM peak hours):

    • If the AM peak is processed with a defined crop area for detection, the PM peak will automatically use the same crop area.

    • Alternatively, if the AM peak was processed without a crop area for detection, it is not possible to define one for the PM peak.

Practical Example

Suppose your analysis only focuses on crossings and interactions between traffic and pedestrians, excluding the intersection at the top of the scene. By defining the crop area for detection, the system concentrates its processing capacity on the relevant area, ensuring targeted and efficient data analysis.
